BACKGROUND

In 2024 the Gaston Business Association (GBA) took the lead in spearheading a study to look holistically at the potential development opportunities for our Downtown corridor.  The work was performed by Shook Kelly and focused on the area between Hwy 321 and Oakland Street. The GBA presented the study at the BOC Work Session on 12/10/24 and provided an update at the 8/11/26 BOC Work Session.  Given Gaston County’s partnership in its creation, the GBA requested that the Gaston County Board of Commissioners consider adopting the GASTONIA REIMAGINED Plan and subsequently utilize it as a valuable reference for evaluating future projects and maintaining alignment with broader community goals.
