BACKGROUND

At its January 23 meeting, the Gaston County Board of Education declared the properties located at 322 West Garrison Boulevard, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052 (Parcel # 108841), 384 West Garrison Boulevard, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052 (Parcel # 108845), and neighboring unaddressed property (Parcel # 108844), commonly referred to as the Teacher Resources, as surplus. Before the Board can dispose of the property in accordance with G.S. Ch. 160A, Article 12, the county must first be offered the chance to purchase the property for fair market value.

POLICY IMPACT

The Resolution authorizes the Gaston County Board of Education to dispose of the Teacher Resource Center in accordance with G.S. 115C-518 and G.S. Ch. 160A, Article 12. The proceeds from the sale would be available for the Board’s capital project outlays.
