BACKGROUND

The City of Gastonia is entering into a stormwater easement the City needs from Winston Development Corporation on Parcel No. 217580. After completing a title search, the City found that over $26,000 is owed to Gaston County for unpaid property taxes. Any payment received from the City for the easement will be paid to Gaston County and can be applied to the unpaid property taxes.

Gaston County has agreed that it needs to subordinate the tax lien. If the County foreclosed on its tax lien, a purchaser would take the property subject to the City’s easement; it would not be revoked.
