BACKGROUND

 

The Sheriff’s Office will use state-directed grant funds for the acquisition and/or upgrade of safety equipment (body armor vests) that has expired.

 

North Carolina General Statute 143-129(e)(6) provides an exception to the competitive procurement process and authorizes a sole source exception for informal and formal purchases when (1) performance or price competition is not available; (2) product is available from only one source; or (3) standardization or compatibility is the overriding consideration. The body armor vests fall under sections 2 and 3 of the sole source authorization.
