BACKGROUND

The Gaston County Police Department has been awarded through the courts of Gaston County, State of North Carolina, 53 firearms (see attached list).  These firearms do not meet the firearms specifications of the Gaston County Police Department.  Training, qualification, and repairs are greatly facilitated by the assignment of uniform firearms.  The surplus of these firearms would allow the department to trade for equipment that does meet the specifications of the department.  Equipment could be obtained at no cost to the county and issued for use by members of the department.
