BACKGROUND

Under the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) makes payments to eligible units of local government (Gaston County Sheriff’s Office) that incur certain types of costs due to incarceration of undocumented criminal aliens during a particular 12-month reporting period. This reimbursement is for the reporting period for the FY 2020 program--July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.
