BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Administration Building (128 W. Main Avenue, Gastonia) is the main office building for the Gaston County government. Its primary function is to serve as a workplace for County employees, as well as provide a safe and welcoming environment for all constituents to access important government services.
To support these important functions, the County is adopting reasonable rules for visitors. Some prohibitions include:
• Disruptive, harassing, abusive, or unsafe behavior.
• Remaining in the building after posted hours of operation or after the conclusion of an authorized “after hours” public meeting or event.
• Creating loud noises, yelling, speaking loudly, singing, etc.
• Carrying or displaying large or rigid signs.
• Leaving children unattended.
• Tampering with or vandalizing County property.
Notice of the rules will be posted at every public entrance and the rules will be available upon request. Violations of the rules can result in the County Manager temporarily restricting a person’s access to the building.
