BACKGROUND

 

The Gaston County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a three-year grant from the North Carolina Governor’s Crime Commission in the amount of $125,000 to support partial salaries and fringes for two Court Advocates in the Sheriff’s Office.

 

The two grant-funded Court Advocates in the Sheriff’s Office provide direct, trauma-informed services to victims of federal crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, elder abuse, and related offenses.

 

There is no required match.

 

Total grant period of performance: 10/1/25 - 9/30/28.  Year one period of performance: 10/1/25 - 9/30/26.

Award amounts for grant years two and three have not been announced yet and cannot be included in this Board Action.
