BACKGROUND
At the June 11, 2026 Fire Commission Meeting, a Certificate of Need (CON) was presented for Ranlo Fire & Rescue for two new trucks and necessary equipment to get them into service. One truck is an emergency replacement of the current brush truck and one truck will be used as a command vehicle. The current brush truck, a 2006 Ford F-350, is paid for and the department will try to sell it after replacement. The Ranlo Board has approved for a transfer from their savings account for the purchase of a Ford F-350 DRW 4X4 with a service body, the cost to remove the skid unit from the 2006 Ford F-350 truck, and install the skid unit on the new Ford F-350 and also the purchase of a Ford 4X4 4-door crew cab to serve as a command vehicle for general response and to transport manpower to/from calls. There is no impact to the budget since the department’s savings is being used for these purchases.
