BACKGROUND
Gaston County has designated Vehicle #474 and Vehicle #564 to be in poor condition, uneconomical for continued use and as having met the established surplus criteria. Vehicle #474 is a 2015 Dodge Charger with a total mileage of 168,332. Vehicle #564 is a 2015 Dodge Charger with a total mileage of 153,796. Both vehicles were previously assigned to the Gaston County Police Department.

The Cherryville Police Department has requested these surplus vehicles pursuant to N.C.G.S. 160A-274. his Board Action authorizes the transfer of these vehicles "as is" with no warranties to the Cherryville Police Department for $1.00 each. In the event the vehicle is not in acceptable condition at the time of transfer, substituting another similar surplus vehicle is not permitted. Further, this transfer is conditioned upon the understanding that all expenses including, but not limited to, repairs, motor fuels and lubricants, vehicle tag, inspection, and any other costs associated with the purchase and ownership, will be the sole responsibility of the Cherryville Police Department. The Cherryville Police Department agrees to use the vehicles for official agency use, and the vehicles may not be sold, or title transferred to another person or entity for a minimum of 2 years after purchase from Gaston County. These vehicles are purchased in "as is, where is" condition, except that County-owned equipment and decals will be removed.
