BACKGROUND

 

This 21st Century Community Learning Center will support students attending H. H. Beam Elementary, a Title I school in Gaston County. The program will provide 150 slots in an after school program for K-5 students. The program addresses three specific areas of need that were identified through multiple data sources as critical elements to support students and their families:  1) academic performance in the classroom and EOG/K-2 assessment performance; 2) a character education program to help students make better choices and; and 3) family services that will offer parents educational and personal development opportunities that will assist them in supporting their children’s academic and social development.
