BACKGROUND

 

The North Carolina General Assembly allocated funding to the NC Human Trafficking Commission for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, $4,800,000) in nonrecurring funds for a grant program to provide funds to qualifying domestic violence and sexual assault agencies for the purpose of making one-time facility upgrades or undertaking construction projects.

 

Improvements to the overall safety, environment, and efficiency of the facility will include the following:

 

1. Enhancing the property's security by installing camera upgrades to the current shelter building and adding new cameras to the exterior and interior of the storage building

2. Improving facility daily operations of meal prep and laundry by replacing old and poorly functioning appliances (two freezers, a refrigerator and a commercial washer/dryer)

3.                     Replacing worn bedroom furniture and mattresses for the eight bedrooms (16 beds plus trundle beds).
