BACKGROUND
Two vehicles originally purchased with NCDOT grant funds were wrecked and deemed total losses. Insurance settlement funds were received and the vehicles were replaced. However, the replacement value was less than the insurance settlement. Since the vehicles had not met their useful life, NCDOT-IMD said the excess insurance settlement funds should have been deposited into the grant account to be spent or returned to the state. They were put into the County’s insurance settlement account and not the grant account. This Board Action reallocates those funds back to the grant account to pay for additional vehicle expenses.

In addition, wrecked vehicle #236 was sold at auction. A portion of those proceeds were sent back to NCDOT. The remaining funds remained in the capital fund and closed to fund balance. This Board Action appropriates those funds to the grant account to pay for additional vehicle expenses.
