BACKGROUND

Gaston County has designated vehicle #919 to be in poor condition, uneconomical for continued use and as having met the established surplus criteria. Vehicle #919 is a 2013 Ford F-150, VIN #1FTMF1CM5DFC14232. This vehicle was previously assigned to the Gaston County Office of Capital Improvements.

Community Volunteer Fire Department requests this surplus vehicle pursuant to N.C.G.S. 160A-274, this Board Action authorizes the County Manager to transfer this vehicle to the Community Volunteer Fire Department for $1.00. In the event the vehicle is not in acceptable condition at the time of transfer, to substitute another, similar surplus vehicle is not permitted. Further, this transfer is conditioned upon the understanding that all expenses including, but not limited to repairs, motor fuels and lubricants, vehicle tag, inspection and any other costs associated with the purchase and ownership will be the sole responsibility of the Community Volunteer Fire Department.  The Community Volunteer Fire Department agrees to use the vehicle for official agency use, and the vehicle may not be sold, or title transferred to another person or entity for a minimum of 2 years after purchase from Gaston County. The vehicle is purchased in “as is, where is” condition except County owned equipment and decaling will be removed. Gaston County does not warrant in any way the condition of future operation/reliability of said vehicle. Approval of this Board Action authorizes the County Manager, or their designee, to execute said agreement and any other documents as may be necessary for the vehicle’s sale and title transfer to the Community Volunteer Fire Department
